FAQS
What is the difference between rigid core and glue down vinyl?
Rigid core vinyl features a solid, reinforced core that adds stability, durability, and resistance to dents. It typically uses a click-lock installation system and can be installed as a floating floor over most existing surfaces. Glue down vinyl, on the other hand, is adhered directly to the subfloor using adhesive. It provides a thinner profile and is often preferred for large commercial spaces because of its strong bond and stability under heavy foot traffic.
Is luxury vinyl flooring waterproof?
Yes. All of MSI’s Everlife® waterproof vinyl flooring is a great option for areas exposed to moisture such as kitchens, bathrooms, laundry rooms, and basements. Its waterproof core and protective wear layer help prevent water from damaging the floor when spills or humidity occur.
Is LVF suitable for commercial spaces?
Yes, MSI Everlife® LVT products are designed for both residential and commercial environments. LVF with thicker wear layers and commercial-grade durability performs well in offices, retail stores, hospitality settings, and other high-traffic areas.
What thickness should I choose?
The ideal thickness depends on the level of traffic and the subfloor conditions. Thicker vinyl planks or tiles generally provide greater comfort underfoot, better sound absorption, and improved durability. For residential spaces, mid-range thicknesses often work well, while commercial or high-traffic areas may benefit from thicker options with stronger wear layers.
How long does vinyl floor last?
Luxury vinyl flooring is designed to be highly durable and long-lasting. With proper installation and maintenance, it can last 10–20 years or more depending on the product quality, wear layer, and the amount of daily traffic.
